World Happiness Report of 2020 Project

A Class Project in R, November - December 2020

Objective: Apply computation techniques in R described in class such as EDA, ggplots, stringr, etc. Explain the data, why it interested us, and a step-by-step analyses that lead to any final conclusions and limitations.

The dataset: World Happiness Report for 2020 (downloaded from Kaggle) conducted by the Gallup World Survey. Includes data from 153 countries around the world with information about how happy everyone is feeling this year. Variables: Country name, Region, Ladder score (state of happiness on a scale of 1 - 10), Logged GDP per capita (updated by the World Development Indicators (WDI)), Social support (scale of 0-1), Life expectancy, Freedom to make life choice (scale of 0-1), Generosity (scale of 0-1), Perceptions of corruption (scale of 0-1).

What I Did: I worked with my partner to produce a report about how the world was feeling and coped during quarantine of 2020. I made a lot of logicial inferences and connections to real world events that could explain the data.

Outcomes: Gained experience in applying data science and analysis methods to real world data.
